Tons! In effect, they're "Super Affiliates".

After all, what is the role of an Affiliate? It's to gain sales by endorsing a product.

Would Nike have sold as many sneakers without Mike? Or, would The Publishers Clearing House have sold all those magazines without Ed? Not a chance.

Why are companies willing to pay their endorsers such big bucks? Simple. They know all too well that "trust and credibility" sells like hotcakes.

Let's put it this way: What if Nike had hired me, Joshua Rose, to endorse their products? Pretty ridiculous, huh? Why in the world would someone buy some Nike's if I told them to? They wouldn't.

It's exactly the same in the online world. Why should someone buy a product you're endorsing as an Affiliate? Who are you? Why should I listen to you? I don't know you. Your endorsement is next to meaningless, sorry.

If you want my business, you must first convince me that you're worth listening to in the first place. But gain my respect and trust, and the opportunities are endless.

The key to Affiliate success is to at first focus your efforts away from your products and towards marketing vehicles that give you the opportunity to win trust. In other words, the first essential step to Affiliate success is TO SELL YOURSELF.

For example:

***** Write a 3-10 part Free Report brimming with insightful and useful information and I'll start paying attention to you.

***** Publish a newsletter with more of the same. And let me get a sense of who you are as a person. I like what I see. Now I'll think more seriously about your endorsements.

***** Write a Free E-book that's going to help me. It can be in your own words or a compilation of the work of others. Help me to learn and you'll gain my respect ... and my ear.

***** Let me see your articles in respected newsletters and references from relevant web sites. The more I see your name, the more credibility I'll associate with you. I'll sign-up for your newsletter to learn what else you have to say.

***** Show me that you've used the products you're suggesting. How, exactly did you benefit? What were the results? Is there any downside at all? (You see? Now you've got me paying attention and asking for more information).

Get the idea? Affiliate sales are all about building relationships, not promoting products. You can promote until you're green in the face, but if you haven't developed a personal relationship with your prospects, and earned their respect and trust, it's unlikely you'll ever get more than a handful of sales.

And please remember this, Affiliate success does not come overnight. Like anything worthwhile, it takes effort and commitment.

The good news is that once you establish who you are and win the respect of your leads, it does indeed become easier. After successfully crossing the trust and credibility threshold, it's much easier to transfer this influence to additional top-notch products and opportunities.

Create a Buzz with Viral Affiliate Marketing

The topic of viral marketing is not new in Internet marketing circles. Most of the time, viral marketing is discussed in the context of product owners and merchants themselves using viral marketing techniques. It’s not often you will see discussions and advice which talk about viral affiliate marketing though, so I’ve decided to touch on that subject here.

Viral marketing is just marketing which has gained momentum by people talking about the product or service. Viral marketing can be word of mouth recommendations from one customer to another, or it can be people talking about the product on discussion boards and forums, or on blogs. Viral marketing can also happen through people complaining or bad mouthing products too though, so you need to be careful how you go about starting a viral affiliate marketing campaign.

The first step of course, is to make sure you’ve chosen an excellent product to promote, which is sold by a very reputable company. If you go out and try to promote an affiliate product that has a bad reputation, you’ll get a lot of talk going all right… but it won’t likely be very positive.

Viral marketing is not easy to start - whether you’re a merchant or an affiliate - but it can gain a lot of momentum and power once it’s begun. There are several ways you can help try to kick start it too, but not all of these will always work.

1. Create something funny. Post something funny on a blog, in a forum or discussion group, or in a give away report or e-book. If it’s funny enough, other people will link to it and pass it around. And of course if your affiliate link is included in what’s being passed around, you could get some visitors and sales.

Humor can be used in email too, as long as you’re not sending bulk unsolicited email - a.k.a. Spam - to people. Sending something funny to a group of friends or colleagues via email is usually ok though, and if your email signature has a small ad for the affiliate product you’re promoting, then you could get visits and sales.

2. Create something useful. This can take longer to go viral but it can also last much longer too. By creating something super useful such as a tutorial, help documents, a well researched report and so on, you can get a lot of traffic and links to that resource. If it’s really useful, many other websites will link to it, and many people will start recommending it in forums and in email. Put your affiliate links within the report somewhere, and as the visitors start to snowball you’ll get some of them visiting your affiliate product pages and buying.

3. Create a product review. By reviewing the very product you’re trying to sell - and especially reviewing it really well - you can stir up a lot of traffic and links from other places around the web where people are talking about the product or others like it. When people come to read your review, if they like what they see, they’re very likely to click your affiliate links and buy the items.

Understanding Affiliate Program Payment Types

If you're just getting started as an affiliate marketer, it will be helpful for you to know the various types of affiliate program opportunities there are on the web. Not everyone realizes there are different ways to make money from affiliate programs, so I'll summarize the top ones here for you.

1. Pay Per Sale (PPS) - This is the most common type of affiliate program. When promoting programs, products or services on a pay per sale basis, the affiliate only earns money when a sale is made through their affiliate link. Usually the money earned is a percentage of the total sale, and this is called the affiliate commission.

With a Pay Per Sale type of affiliate program, it's important for the affiliate marketer to select programs and products which will sell well in their chosen niche. Otherwise you'll be wasting a lot of time and effort and getting very little in terms of sales results.

In order for sales to be made consistently in a Pay Per Sale program, the products must be very good, the sales letter must be very good, and the merchant must also be very good. Then of course, the affiliate must be able to send enough targeted traffic to those sales pages, so that sales can actually be made.

2. Pay Per Click (PPC) - A pay per click affiliate program usually involves some sort of advertising. Instead of the affiliate marketer recommending specific products and services, they simply put advertisements on their website or in their email newsletters. When visitors or readers click an ad, the affiliate earns a small amount of money.

The most popular PPC affiliate program online today is the Google AdSense program. There are many others though, and each has different criteria for joining, as well as earning money and being paid.

PPC affiliate programs are popular with many affiliate marketers, because they feel like they don't have to actually try and sell anything. Instead, they can provide great content on a blog or website, and the visitors click ads passively.

3. Pay Per Lead (PPL) - Pay Per Lead affiliate programs are popular because an affiliate can make money just by giving away something free. There is no sale involved, and the affiliate referral commissions are often quite lucrative.

With PPL affiliate programs, the affiliate usually just needs to get their visitor to fill out a form requesting more information, or fill out a survey or opinion poll. In some cases, all the affiliate has to do is get the visitors to sign up to an email list, and they'll earn money from these actions.

4. Pay Per Action (PPA) - This term is often used synonymously with either any or all of the above. With a pay per action affiliate program, the affiliate's job is to get their targeted visitors to take a specific action. Sometimes that action is to buy something, sometimes it's just requesting free information. Other times the visitors have to take a survey or sign up for an email list. The types of actions vary from one affiliate program offer to another, but just like the other affiliate payment types above, once the action is performed, the affiliate earns a commission.

Marketing Affiliate Programs with Articles

If you're new to affiliate marketing online, you may not have much money to spare for marketing and advertising efforts. Thankfully there are some great alternatives that cost little to nothing, other than your time. One of the best known is Article Marketing.

Article Marketing is the process of writing quality articles which are then given out free to various places around the web. These articles have your name and information on them, along with a link or two to your website. Your website should then have some kind of information available about the affiliate program or product you're promoting.

When you give away your articles at no cost, more people will read them around the web. And each person that reads the article could potentially click your website links and visit your site. If you've done a great job of introducing your affiliate product on your website, they may then click the affiliate link and make a purchase. This of course earns you money.

Not all affiliate marketers promote a product on their website though. Instead, they use article marketing to get visitors to an email sign up page. When the visitors sign up for the information you're offering, they'll start getting regular email messages from you. And your email messages are the ones that will promote the affiliate products for you instead. This allows you, as an affiliate marketer, to build your own targeted prospect list around certain topics. And over time you'll be able to promote additional affiliate products to that list which are related in topic, so you can make even more money from the same people.

Whichever way you decide to use it, article marketing can be one of the simplest, most inexpensive ways to start making money as an affiliate marketer. And there are just four simple steps:

1. Find a great topic. Sometimes this is called finding a niche, but the point is the same: Figure out what people are really interested in - or even desperate for - on any given topic. If they're really itching for information about something, they're more likely to buy without thinking twice about it.

2. Find a great affiliate product. The affiliate product you choose of course should be related to the topic you found in the previous step. Make sure the product has an excellent sales page, so the traffic you send to that page will be more likely to convert. Also of course, make sure that product is as great as it seems, so you don't end up with lots of sales that end up being refunded.

3. Start writing articles. These don't have to be perfect and they won't be graded by your English teacher either. Just write the article about small pieces of the topic you chose in step one. Write as if you're talking to just one person, and that will make it more conversational and engaging.

Your articles don't have to be long essays either. Most good web based articles range in size from 300-500 words, but you can make it as long as 1000 words if you have that much to say. A better option though, would be to break a longer article into two parts because that will give you two articles to distribute instead of one.

4. Distribute your articles. This is the easy part. Once you've finished writing, be sure to create a signature style area at the end of your article which has your name, copyright, a bit of information about you or your website, and a link. Then simply submit the articles to various directories and distribution sites around the web.

Social Networking and Affiliate Marketing

Many affiliate marketers have already come across the term "social networking" in the last year or so, but not all of them know what this means. And most affiliates have no idea how to use social networking websites to promote their affiliate products.

Social networking sites are also referred to as Web 2.0 sites. These are simply an extension of the community based websites you probably already use. Forum, discussion boards, and active blogs for instance, are all a form of social networking. They contain groups of people who are all interested in the same or similar topics.

The social networking sites which have become popular lately, tend to integrate a little more interactivity into the mix though. Some of them allow members to broadcast messages to each other; some allow uploading of pictures, videos, or audio files; some have hundreds of different discussion boards for members to talk on; some allow you to save and share your bookmarks with friends; and some even allow you to earn additional advertising or affiliate revenue from the content pages you add to their network.

One of the most important things you need to know about social networking though, is that each site has it's own individual rules. In some places you might be allowed to link directly to an affiliate product or program for instance, while in others you may be restricted to links which lead to your own blogs or websites only. And there are some places which say you're not supposed to link to anyplace where you're trying to sell stuff.

By using social networking sites which allow you to link to an affiliate sales page, your own website, or a blog you run, you can dramatically increase the amount of income you're making as an affiliate though. As long as you play by the specific rules for the sites you're using, and you do your promotions consistently and well.

On forums and discussion boards for instance, you can't usually just go in and post an advertisement. Instead, you need to join the discussions which are already in progress. Try your best to provide helpful and useful content to other members of the board, and be sure to post as often as possible too. In each post, you should have a forum signature which contains a small ad for what you're offering. Link that signature to your website, blog or affiliate sales page. Then the more you post, the more that signature will be seen. And the more helpful and useful your posts are, the more other members will be inclined to click your links.

If you use a social networking site which allows you to create and share your website bookmark links, then you'll want to link to your website, blog, and affiliate sales pages of course. Be sure to put a brief description on the links if you're able to, because this can help entice other members to see what you're linking to.

Affiliate Marketing Start Up Plan

If you're ready to get started making money online with an affiliate marketing business, then you'll need a solid plan of action to help you get started successfully. Starting an affiliate marketing business is not difficult, but without a proper plan of action in place you may find yourself struggling to make any money from it.

Now, there are several different affiliate marketing plans you can follow, so this article is meant to help you think about which steps should be in your own personal plan, and help you to not forget some that might be important.

Step 1: Research the Markets. The first step in creating an affiliate marketing plan is to research the market you'll be selling products to. You'll want to look around the web and find out what people are talking about, what they're asking for, or what they can't seem to find. If you can find people talking about things they desperately need, then that is often an excellent market to go in to.

You see, by finding out what people want first, you set yourself up to make much more money in the long run. If you were to choose a product first and then try and figure out who to sell that product to, you'll make things more difficult for yourself.

Step 2: Research the Products. Once you have at least one or more markets in mind that you'll be selling products to, the next step is to go out and find a selection of products that meets the market's needs. Refer back to your research at this point... did the market want something they can't find? Are people desperate for something? Are they just constantly asking where to go for X product or service? Choose your affiliate products based on what they wanted, and sign up as an affiliate.

Step 3: Plan Your Approach. Once you have one or more affiliate products in mind, you'll now need to choose your particular marketing approach. This part can get a bit confusing because there are so many options, but don't let it scare you. The primary approaches to affiliate marketing include:

Build a blog on the topic.
Write articles for your own website or to distribute around the web.
Start an email list about your topic.
Advertise the products from somewhere online such as Google AdWords.
Now your approach can be multi-pronged. In other words, you can use more than one of the above marketing techniques at the same time if you'd like. New affiliate marketers however, are usually better off starting with just one marketing approach to begin with though, and then adding others as they feel more confident in their promotional abilities.

Step 4: Get started. Regardless of which approach you chose, it's now time to put it all into action. Don't forget to be careful with your funds while you're just starting too. Unless you have some funds in reserve to use, it could be several months before you actually get your affiliate commissions as cash in your bank account. So plan for those cash flow restrictions right from the start.

Where Are the Best Affiliate Products to Promote?

If you’re one of the many who’ve chosen to jump onto the affiliate marketing bandwagon, you’ve made a wise decision. The Internet is constantly growing with no sign of an expansion slow down anywhere in sight.

One of the most commonly asked questions about affiliate marketing is, “Where do I go to find the best affiliate products to promote?” You want to promote products that are sold through a secure billing environment.

You’re looking for a good return on your investment of time (and sometimes money), so commission percentages are important, as is the price of the product itself. Some sites that offer tangible goods, such as Amazon, require you to work harder for the money you earn because the price of the products is low to begin with. Compare a $14.95 paperback book to a $49.95 digital eBook – which one do you want a 50% share for promoting?

One of the most important things as an affiliate is to build a list. So regardless of what site you use to find products to promote, you want to make sure you feel comfortable recommending it so that you don’t tarnish your reputation.

Many affiliates start out promoting ClickBank products. They have a database with thousands of products you can choose to push in any niche. Plus, the commissions are generally between 50-75%, with a higher price tag.

But why you would limit yourself to only one network, when there are many you can use to generate a flood of sales from? LinkShare, PayDotCom and Commission Junction all work with the same basic concept as ClickBank does, but each one operates slightly different.

At PayDotCom, for example, it’s up to the product owner to pay the affiliates, whereas ClickBank pays all affiliates directly. Some sites, like Commission Junction, give product owners the ability to pre-approve affiliates, while they have no control over who sells what at ClickBank. They each have their own network of top-notch advertisers.

As an affiliate marketer, you’ll want to try each system out and see what you like about each one. If you’re blogging about the travel niche, for instance, then you might recommend luggage from a Commission Junction advertiser you promote, an eBook on how to speak a foreign language from ClickBank, and an entire travel package from someone advertising on LinkShare.

Using a combination of affiliate networks allows you more flexibility in how you make money from these sites. As your affiliate marketing skills improve, you’ll find some you prefer over others and weed out those that don’t cater to your personal preferences and needs.

Do Affiliate Marketers Really Need a Website?

Your main goal as an affiliate marketer is to increase your stream of income without having to become a product owner yourself. Do you still need a website of your own if you’re just pushing other people’s products?

The answer is – yes and no. It’s not a necessity, but having your own website can be a boon to your online affiliate sales. Technically, you can be an affiliate for someone else’s product and promote your link through article marketing, blogs, forum posts, and other non-site specific methods.

But each time someone follows your link directly to the product owner’s pitch page, you’re allowing them to opt out of a lifetime of future sales through you. You’ll be working longer and harder for each sale because for every new sale, you have to cast your net all over again.

If you have a domain of your own, you can set up a simple opt-in form where people can subscribe to your list and cater to their needs week after week, without having to return to the ‘net each time to find new prospects.

Instead, you build a list of people interested in your niche topics, and then find other products to promote to them. It’s much easier to visit ClickBank for a new product to promote than it is to drum up new customers to buy a single product.

In order to build a list, you need a simple domain (or even a blog will do), with an autoresponder tool you can use to capture the contact information and store the names for you. This is known as a squeeze page, where your primary goal is to get the contact information in hand.

You have to know how to convince your target audience to opt in to your list. Grabbing their attention and keeping it brief is key. Don’t require them to read through a 25-page sales letter only to find out at the end that all they had to do was enter their name and email address in a box to get their hands on some sort of freebie.

Some affiliate marketers even have larger websites that house lots of reviews of the various products they promote. Sometimes they’ll pit two like-products against one another, giving an evaluation of each one’s strengths and weaknesses, but each review includes their affiliate link for possible commission earnings.

Is a website a necessity? No. But if you want to increase your affiliate sales and work less, then you at least need to develop a simple opt-in form on a domain that you can brand within your niche.

How to Choose Good Affiliate Programs

Once you're ready to start promoting other people's products as an affiliate marketer, your first question might be how to choose a good affiliate program? And the answer usually is: It varies. There are many things to take into consideration in choosing an affiliate program, so we'll look at several of the most important ones here.

1. What market are you promoting to? An affiliate program which sells shoes won't be much good to you if you're selling to people who want to learn how to train their new puppy. So the first step in choosing good affiliate programs is to only choose from those which fit your particular affiliate marketing niche.

2. What are the commissions? Knowing how much commission you'll earn from one affiliate program to another can help you decide which one might be best for you. There are other things to consider besides commission levels of course, but most new affiliate marketers feel this is important. They'd rather earn 50% sales commissions instead of 35%.

3. How much actual cash do you earn? Most new affiliates don't realize this, but sometimes a high paying commission rate is not as good at it might first look when choosing an affiliate program. If you choose to promote a $50 product for 50% commissions for instance, you'll earn $25. If on the other hand, you promote a product which sells for $150... even though you're earning 35% commissions, that ends up being a cool $52.50 for you. Twice as much as that "higher" paying affiliate program.

4. What are the program's terms? It's very important to read the rules, terms of service, and all fine print for any affiliate program before you join. Unfortunately there are some affiliate programs which aren't overly kind to affiliates in their terms of service. If they only allow you to earn sales commissions when someone clicks your link for instance, but not if they come back an hour later, you might want to reconsider joining them.

5. What are the payment terms? Some affiliate programs require you to earn over $100 before they'll send your earnings to you, and others will only pay you once every three months. Many new affiliates can't afford to wait three to four months for a payment, and many also can't earn $100 or more very quickly when they're first starting out. So find out what their payment terms are before joining, and be honest with yourself about whether that payment plan will actually work for you or not.

6. How good is the sales page? This is a very important item that many new affiliate marketers are clueless about. If the sales page will not sell, then you're not likely to make much - if any - money promoting that product. A good rule of thumb is to check out the sales page first, and gauge your own reaction to it. Does it make you want to whip out your credit card and buy? If so, then it's worth at least a trial promotion period.

If the sales page makes you scratch your head, say "hmmm" or "huh?", or you find yourself constantly trying to reread a section to understand it, you may want to pass this one up. If it's not good enough to engage the reader and make them want to buy, it's not likely going to help you make affiliate sales.

Keeping Affiliate Marketing Costs Down

Affiliate marketing is one of the oldest but fastest growing methods of earning an income online. The basic concept is web-based advertising through associations gained with other Internet marketers.

What’s especially appealing about an affiliate marketing method of advertising is that it’s simple for anyone to do. So even those who aren’t especially savvy when it comes to the technical workings of the ‘net can easily learn how to become successful at selling on it.

Affiliate marketing is actually a win-win situation because the affiliates and product owners all benefit from it, sharing the commissions. Even the customer wins if the affiliate has sent a highly targeted niche audience member to a product that suits his needs.

There are sometimes costs involved with affiliate marketing, but with a little guidance and assistance, you can learn how to keep those expenses to a minimum and still achieve your income goals.

You can start by using a signature file in a forum for the niche you’re targeting. You may not be able to blatantly advertise with links to a website, but you can post relevant conversations with other members and expose your affiliate link in your signature to the hundreds or thousands of users participating on the site.

Many people involved with online advertising are joining social networking sites like Squidoo and MySpace. These free sites allow you to interact with your niche and recommend products through your blog posts, links, or sidebar space.

You can also keep affiliate costs down by promoting your squeeze page through articles and then posting them to free article directories like Ezine Articles or Go Articles. As long as you create a valuable article, you’ll get the publicity for your affiliate promotions that you want to secure.

Some sites also offer free press release generation. If you create these with high keyword relevancy, then whenever the press release directory launches your page, you’ll rank high on the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) for your prime or long-tail keywords and phrases.

Even if you use paid advertising techniques to promote your affiliate products, make sure you use caution in keeping costs low. Don’t set your AdWords campaign to use up $100 a day if you can’t afford it. Be sensible with your budget and you’ll be able to find creative ways of gaining traffic without going broke.

The Most Common Affiliate Marketing Blunder

Have you ever wondered why so many people try to make money with affiliate marketing but fall flat on their faces? After all, the underlying theory of affiliate marketing seems so simple and sound. Where are people making the critical errors that cause so much disappointment?

According to one expert, the most common affiliate marketing blunder has less to do with marketing techniques than you might think. In fact, this serious error happens before the marketer even starts promoting a product.

Affiliate Avalanche argues that one reason many people flop as affiliates is because they don’t pick the right products to promote in the first place. That’s right, before the first email this the list, before the first attempt at driving traffic, many marketers are doomed. Instead of hitching their wagons to stars, they tie themselves to losing propositions.

Affiliate Avalanche makes a persuasive case for good product and program evaluation before promotion. It contains numerous tips--some of which are real eye -openers--that would undoubtedly help many struggling affiliate marketers to start collecting commission checks.

The big goof for many disappointed affiliate marketers has nothing to do with their actual promotional skills! There are probably countless people out there with marketing skills that could be producing six-figure annual incomes who are wasting away because they don’t know how to pick the right programs and products in the first place!

The Risks of Blind Affiliate Marketing

You’ve found the perfect product to promote as an affiliate marketer. The sales copy is so good that it left you salivating. The angle is fresh and new. The product appears to be on the cutting edge of the “next big thing”. The price is right, the commission is good, and even the graphics are beautiful. Full speed ahead, right?

Not so fast. You might be able to send traffic to the sales page and start racking up the sales, but there’s a risk in embracing the program at face value. What happens if the actual product stinks?

You already know the answer: Refunds. If the product doesn’t live up to the sales page, it will generate chargebacks and refund requests at a rapid clip. All of those commission earnings you were so excited about will disappear in the black hole of refunds before you see a check.

There’s another risk in blind affiliate marketing and it can be even more devastating than losing out on commissions. You can ruin your reputation. If you throw your weight behind a lousy product, it damages your relationship with your list, makes you a question mark to those who saw just how lousy the product was, and can put you in a pickle for months, if not years, to come.

You don’t want to see earnings evaporate as angry customers yell for returns. You don’t want to see your good name permanently tainted by a drag through the mud, either. That’s why you don’t want to blindly promote any product.

What’s the solution? You have to see the product before you promote it. You have to know whether it’s any good. You need to find out if it measures up to the sales claims and if it’s the kind of thing that’s going to score a knockout with the targeted audience.

You can make sells without knowing the product. Affiliate marketing is a nice, streamlined business model and it lends itself to glossing over the details. You can pick a program, drive traffic to it, and collect some checks. However, you run a long=term risk of reduced earnings and a short term frustration with excessive returns if you run your business that way.

Get an advanced copy. Seek out information from those you can trust who have firsthand experience with the product. Find out if there’s a consistency between the sales page and the product.

If you do all of that, you’ll be in a great position to promote the product. You’ll be able to target traffic more effectively and make the possibility of a purchase more attractive, too.

If you’re choosing products and programs to promote, approach the matter with care. Keep your eyes open and don’t act blindly. A little bit of vision will supply a substantial head start on the road to affiliate marketing success.

The Biggest Difference between Affiliate Marketing Success and Failure

Do you know the biggest difference between affiliate marketing success and failure? Can you name the one factor that spells the difference between serious income and infinite frustration? There’s one aspect to the whole affiliate marketing process that has a greater bearing on achievement than all others. What is it?

It’s program selection. That’s the critical first step to making money as an affiliate marketer. If you’re interested in pursuing affiliate marketing, you simply have no choice but to learn how to choose the right products and programs to promote. If you don’t master those lessons, you’ll never reach your full potential.

Picking the right products is simple, though, right? All you have to do is find something that looks good or that is right in your “wheelhouse” and that offers a nice chunky commission, right? If you approach affiliate marketing with that attitude, you’re doomed.

Choosing the right programs isn’t necessarily rocket science, but it isn’t quite that simple, either. Sure, it’s nice to work with a program that mirrors your understanding and interest. Of course a big commission is great. Those are only two of many factors to consider, however.

What does the sales page look like? What is the competition offering? What is the target demographic really like and is this what they really want? Is the program offering affiliate support materials? Is there a secondary means of generating sales if the prospect doesn’t click the “buy now” link on the sales page?

There are other questions, too. Those are just the beginning.

If you choose the right product, affiliate marketing becomes simple. You drive targeted traffic to the sales page and collect checks as the prospects make purchases. Isn’t that an incredibly elegant moneymaking system?

If you choose the wrong product, affiliate marketing gets tough. It becomes harder to secure traffic. The traffic you send may not be in a buying mood. The sales page might not anyone. Problem after problem will manifest. Isn’t that a mess?

If you took the top 100 affiliates in the history of Internet marketing and profiled them all carefully, you’d soon learn that they all have one skill in common. They all have the ability to assess product and program quality. They know which opportunities to back and they’re ready to run from the weaker ones.

You can continue to guess about programs. You can rely on hunches or a quick check of a product’s ClickBank gravity. Some days, you might get lucky and snag a few sales. Most of the time, however, you will be underachieving.

If, however, you take the time to learn about choosing the right programs, you can experience an avalanche of affiliate earnings. When you master the one skill that separates affiliate success from IM failure, you’ll be ready to reach (and exceed) your objectives!

Stocking Your Affiliate Toolbox

If you want to make serious money with affiliate marketing, you need to have the right set of tools. I’m not talking about hardware. I’m talking about skills and the right elements of a perfect affiliate online presence. Those are the tools you’ll use to make money as a marketer and you’ll want to have them all in your toolbox.

A contractor can’t build a new house with nothing more than a hammer and a few nails. They’ll use everything from earth-moving equipment to razor-sharp wire cutters to go from blueprint to dream house. That’s the way it is with affiliate marketing, too. Those who have all the right tools are the ones who can build something meaningful.

What kind of tools do you need? What are the must-haves for an affiliate toolbox?

First, you’ll need basic knowledge. That isn’t a big surprise. You’ll need to understand the fundamental underpinnings of affiliate marketing and you’ll want a grasp of how and why it works. Please note that I said “basic” knowledge, not “superficial” knowledge. You need to have a real understanding of they “why” questions.

Second, you’ll need to be able to choose the right product. This point can’t be overemphasized. Product and program selection are a fundamental part of successful affiliate marketing. The ability to pick smartly often separates the winners from the losers.

Third, you’ll need to master advertising. If you want to really promote a product, you’ll eventually find yourself making advertising buys. You might be spending on an Adwords campaign. You may decide to buy a few high profile links. You might want to feature a banner in a great location. You need to know how to do it and how to keep costs low.

Fourth, you’ll need to use the newest and most powerful techniques to your advantage. The web is in a constant state of flux, and those who know how to stay on top of trends are in the catbird’s seat. Social bookmarking and networking, the growing influence of blogging and a host of other developments are creating high-profit, transformative opportunities for affiliate marketers.

Fifth, you’ll need to bring the right personality to the job. You’ll need a creative spark, the courage to take action and a healthy dose of gritty determination. If you go into affiliate marketing with a willingness to learn and a desire to be proactive, you can be a success.

The affiliate marketing toolbox is stuffed with great gear, blueprints, tools, and gadgets. You’ll pick up some of the tools as you go along--experience is a great teacher. Fortunately, however, you can snag almost everything you need in one fell swoop. If you find the right resource, you can experience an avalanche of affiliate tools and knowledge directly into your toolbox right away.

Make sure you’re ready for the job. Have the right tools in place and know how to use them.

You Can Earn Billions Overnight

Affiliate marketing comes with more than its fair share of hype, and that exaggeration occurs on multiple levels. In order to make affiliate marketing work as effectively as possible, it’s necessary to find a way to look past the bloviation and hyperbole. After that, it’s equally important not to contribute to it.

High hype online sales pitches are the natural online extension of the brick and mortar “hard sell.” The advantages of a product are pumped and pumped to the point of bursting while any potential limitations or drawbacks remain unmentioned. This is nothing new. People from door-to-door vacuum reps to used car salespeople have been doing it for years. It’s found its way, in one form or another, into most any business.

In the online world, however, the hyperbolic approach seems to be even more effective. No one really believes that a used car will change his or her life for the better in a truly meaningful way. However, plenty of people searching for online business opportunities do know that fortunes have been made on the web in short periods. There is a certain potential truth underlying even the most exaggerated claim that makes an over-the-top sales strategy resonate more honestly than it does in other contexts.

As an affiliate marketer, however, you need to be able to see through the approach before making decisions about which product to promote. Every possible affiliate program will offer you “an unparalleled” compensation plan or “a once in a lifetime” opportunity. Every affiliate program will tout the “large untapped market” it serves and just how “easy it is to develop massive residual/passive/immediate income.”

You are in the affiliate marketing business because you know the profit potential the industry possesses. However, that doesn’t mean you should accept outlandish claims on their face. Look carefully at offers and use your well-honed common sense and expertise to dissect them. Become a part of the programs that offer the most potential--not the ones that promise the most.

One you are marketing, remember just how annoying hype-based strategies can be. Try to find a way to emphasize the positive to your potential customers without misleading them with exaggeration. The most successful online entrepreneurs are those who make honest offers and recommendations based on a strong understanding of their customer’s needs. Those who sell snake oil might generate an income, but they are also forced to contend with constant customer service problems and an eventual destruction of their reputation that makes selling anything much more difficult.

The strong sale isn’t a prima facie evil. It isn’t necessarily misrepresentation. However, an ethical line can be crossed in pursuit of sales. Don’t cross that line while you shop for affiliate opportunities or when you promote products to your prospects. You may not earn billions overnight, but you can reach your goals at a more than reasonable pace by doing things the right way.

Know Your Site Builder Affiliate Program

Know in your mind to that the most important task you can first do to make your online business experience positive is to know your product before you start a business. Virtually every successful partner in any site builder affiliate program knows their product inside out. The affiliate partner program is useless even if the business support is excellent without excellent products.

Amazingly many fast buck money making affiliate individuals, including myself at one time, join a program because they get revved up by the sales pitch. A very high percentage of these result in many drop outs for the discouraged affiliates who make little or no money at all in them. A small percentage of webmasters with big mailing list groups make good money for a short time until the fire of the empty shell product fizzles out. There are ways to increase your chances of being an affiliate making money versus an affiliate losing money. One is by having a top notch affiliate hosting program by your partner who is a free builder of web sites for you. Some of these partners are good at building a web site of a very few pages for you and most are not.

Here are some expensive lessons I have learned over the years that will massively increase your odds of success. See how many of these will eliminate almost all affiliate programs out there and save you time and money.

The training of the master affiliate company should give you the potential to be so good that you will not need the help of your sponsor into it in the first place. This would enable you to learn your product well and be satisfied with the quality of it. You know you have a product worth buying.

You want a company that gives you a second tier of income to earn on. Others who do well through the affiliate hosting company will multiply your efforts a level down. If the company goes down too many levels with the pay plan they have to goose up the product price and that cuts its sales way down. Good bye profits.

Most free builder type host affiliate companies have no second tier in their program because their product is not good enough to be priced higher. You have to know your site builder affiliate program is very good to make a buck. There are sure signs of this you can judge by.

They will make claims of being quality programmers, marketers and web masters. They can demonstrate their excellence. If not, say bye, bye and move on to another program. Their web site will be more than one or two pages. They will of been in business for more than a couple years. Preferably five or even ten years.

They will have testimonials by the truck load from marketers who started with very low web marketing skills. Experienced marketers could sell snow cones to Eskimos in Arctic weather. They can make any awful program work! Please understand this very important point!

You want and need someone who has the capability of hand holding you through the learning process. Someone who has dramatic, professional and even funny videos to apply to many business cases. Quality referral web sites are a must. If these are not available save yourself the future grief and move on.

You want warm enthusiastic people to work with who will pull you to success. No one can do it all for you. That is a big lie we have all seen over the years in many business fields.

A very few companies do have the goods to show you the way. Please note I said a very few companies. If you stick with them and learn their techniques you have your best shot to make it.

Keep Affiliate Marketing Simple

Affiliate marketing is an incredibly popular way of earning money online. It avoids the pains and hassles of product creation and allows Internet entrepreneurs with a streamlined means of lining their pockets. Unfortunately, too many affiliate marketers fall into a trap. They turn their backs on simplicity and make the process complicated. As a result, they experience diminished returns and frustrations instead of fast moneymaking and excitement.

Making money online isn’t rocket science. There are many good ways to combine solid effort with a little know-how and some skill to generate revenues. That doesn’t mean it’s easy--it can take a lot of work. It does, however, mean that it’s simple.

Affiliate marketing, for instance, is simple. You drive potential clients to a product’s sales page. When one of those prospects makes a purchase, you receive a hefty commission. It’s an incredibly simple model.

Too many affiliate marketers “gunk up” that elegant system by complicating matters. They worry about pre-selling. They worry about showcasing the product as they drive traffic. They’re preoccupied with a million and one different details they believe will produce record sales and giant commission checks.

Many of them develop a vision problem. They stop seeing the forest and focus almost exclusively on a never-ending collection of individual trees. Some of them even lose trace of the trees because they’re busy studying individual pieces of bark! They start worrying about things they shouldn’t even think about. Remember, the attraction of affiliate marketing is that it makes things easier for the entrepreneur. When you start biting off more and more, the efficiency-robbing complications start to take center stage.

The key to affiliate marketing is simplicity. Deviation from that basic tenet is the easiest way to decrease both your efficiency and your sales.

There is such a thing as pushing too hard, you know. Prospects can grow weary of too much salesmanship. If you’re pre-selling and pre-selling and even doing a little selling, that means your pouring your effort into jobs the affiliate program should be handling. It also means you aren’t spending your resources where they can provide maximum payout.

If you know how to choose a good product and how to drive traffic to an affiliated sales page, your home free. That’s what it’s all about. Finding the right product and driving traffic are what really matter. A good product is going to have a good sales page. If you can deliver targeted traffic, people will buy and you will get those fat checks.

If you’re spending your time worrying about unrelated details or trying to do all the work, you’re wasting your time and effort.

If you want to make money with affiliate marketing, be smart. Keep it simple. Learn the basic strategies that create profit avalanches and remember what really makes the process work--its simplicity.

5 Secrets for Choosing Great Affiliate Products

One of the first things any affiliate marketer needs to do is to find great affiliate products to market. The type of products you decide to market are crucial to your affiliate marketing success, but how do you choose great affiliate products?

Great Affiliate Products are based on What People Want

No affiliate product is going to be a great product unless people actually want to buy it. The first secret therefore to choosing great affiliate products is to find out what people are looking for. Do market research in the field you are interested in and find out what people are looking for. Once you have done some market research and have a good idea of what people are looking for in that area then go and look for those products.

Great Affiliate Products offer Great Commission

Although the amount of commission may vary depending on the price of the item it is generally best to look for a commission of at least 50% unless it is a very high ticket item.

The Best Affiliate Programs offer Excellent Service

If you want great affiliate products then look for great affiliate programs that offer exceptional service to their affiliates. This service should include sales reports, training or newsletters for their affiliates and any extra service and support makes the affiliate program even better.

The Best Affiliate Programs offer a Tiered Structure

If you want great affiliate products then look for affiliate programs that offer a tiered structure. Tiered affiliate programs mean that you don't only earn money from the affiliate products you sell but also from referring new affiliates and the products that they sell.

Great Affiliate Products may be Higher Ticket Items

Depending on how you approach your affiliate marketing and the target market you are looking at it may be better to consider higher ticket items to promote then lower ticket items. If you are promoting your affiliate products through article marketing then it may be better to advertise higher ticket items for example as the amount of work to write an article for a higher ticket item is the same as for a lower ticket item but you will probably earn more from selling one higher ticket item then from selling a number of lower ticket items with one article.

In conclusion, when looking for great affiliate products look for products that others want and buying, that have a great commission structure and that may be higher ticket items. Also the best affiliate programs are often tiered and offer great service.

Online Affiliate Programs - How to Pick The Right One

So you are on a quest to find an internet affiliate program. You like the fact that they handle all the orders, take care of the shipping, and collect payment from the customer. All you do is market your affiliate website and get a cheque from them every month. Nice and simple. The trouble is there is just so many to choose from and they all are boasting loudly. For the most part you have to get past all the advertising which borders on lying and get to the truth behind the company. The following is a list of things to check for so you can make a wise choice.

#1 How many years has the company been in business. I wouldn't go near any company that hasn't been around for at least 10 years. Why? Because you may be signing up with a company deep in the red and about to go under. I am ashamed to say it but it has happened to me. All because I didn't check them out thoroughly. I don't understand all this hype about "pre-launch" and "get in now before we launch". To me that just means they are unproven and unstable.

#2 Personally if you can't pick up the phone and talk directly to Julie or Sally who works in the front office I would run for the hills. Flashing scam bells and whistles should go off in your head if you get an answering machine all the time. Sadly this is all too true on the internet. There should also be a physical address where the main office is that you could drive to one Sunday if you felt like it.

#3 Just how popular are their products that they market. Stay away from some new thing that the world just can't do without. Chances are the world will do without it and you will left holding the bag of purple widgets you thought everyone would buy. The more products they have the better. They should be selling things that sell well in the real world and are already well established out there.

#4 Is the company a member of the Better Business Bureau. The better the reputation they have the better you should feel. I actually know of a program out there right now (which I won't say which one it is to protect the people involved) that people haven't checked out to well because one of the co-founders of the company actually has 42 Better Business Bureau complaints against him resulting from previous scams he had run. This should kill your enthusiasm and you should not be saying things like "maybe he has turned over a new leaf" or "I'll just pretend I didn't know that and carry on in this anyway". It amazes me how people can be duped like this when they ought to just cut their losses and start over.

#5 How extensive is the back office training. Do you have a mentor who is willing to help you and is his success tied to yours. Fire off a few emails to your future mentor and see if he gives a rip or if he is just trying to sell you something and say goodbye. Personally I like this type of affiliate program because it makes everyone accountable.

#6 Watch out for affiliate companies that only take one kind of payment. The more kinds of payment they accept the better. Why? Because if that payment processor should decide they don't like XYZ affiliate company (for whatever reason they may have invented) that whole affiliate company will go down with your investment. Personally I don't like companies that won't pay you by a cheque in the mail just because I have seen this very thing happen a few times.

#7 Your future affiliate program should be a free affiliate program to join but if you do pay something you should also be able to get out after a reasonable amount of time with your money back. Another good thing to look for is a discussion forum where you can login and learn about questions or problems other affiliates are having with the program. This can be very intuitive and give you an inside view before you get too involved.

So there you have a few ways to look for an internet affiliate program. As the Beatles would say "speaking words of wisdom... let it be".

How Successful Is Your Affiliate Marketing Business?

The following article is one of a series of articles which focus on Affiliate, Article and Internet Marketing. All of the articles are based on real experiences and research done over twenty years as a personal and business coach. They are also written in response to questions which I have been asked as well as address common challenges that people have with affiliate marketing, article marketing, internet marketing or running an online business in general. I sincerely hope that you find the following information of value. One idea, one tip, one clue can make all the difference.

How Successful Is Your Affiliate Marketing Business?

Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest business models and this is why many new entrepreneurs begin with these programs.

Theoretically all you need to do is send warm ready to buy visitors to your sponsor's site and his compelling sales page will close the sale. You are just a salesman for other people's products.

This all sounds deceivingly simple but there are a few things you should know to make an affiliate business work:

Choose the right programs: Be very careful of the programs you join. Check them carefully. They should have good support, and real time reliable tracking. A good commission should be paid monthly with no more than $20 limit for payout. Above all the products should be good and targeted to your particular market / niche.

Pre sell, do not sell: One of the big mistakes affiliates do is try to sell their Sponsor's product. They send the visitor to their sponsor's page where they will be confronted by a second sales page. Double selling will deter people from buying. Warm your visitor to the sale by pre selling and let your sponsor's sales page do the selling.

Remember when you are able to attract potential customers, they have one thing in mind - 'what's in it for me' (will this solve the problem I have). The only way you can answer that is to focus on the product's benefits and not its features.

But let me ask you, how can you presell focusing on the benefits if you have not bought the product personally?

Build your business as well as your sponsor's: You are sending all these potential customers to your sponsor and building his customer list. In order to build your businesses have a way to capture these potential customers yourself. Offer a free newsletter on your site and build your own subscriber list.

Have your own website and drive targeted traffic to it: Do not rely on your Sponsor's mirror site. Have a theme website of your own. You will be able to set up your own newsletter there and have multiple related affiliate products. The trick is to drive large amounts of traffic to your website and pre sell them to get the click through to your sponsor's site.

When you have your own website, don't confuse your visitors by attempting to 'presell' 20 products on the same page - how is this going to solve their problem.

Think about it, if the product is worth everything you are going to say it is, doesn't it deserve a page all to itself???

Use these points to build your affiliate marketing enterprise. You will gradually increase your business and your profits.

========SIDEBAR========
Affiliate, Article and Internet Marketing in general isn't as easy as many would have us believe. I fully understand (through my own experiences) that it is a lot easier said than done. However, you are here, right now, because you have a desire to improve your business, grow your business, and be more successful. These articles are here with the sole intention of helping you to make the whole process a lot easier.
======END SIDEBAR======

So Why Do People Fail In Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing looks easy to do, but in reality it is a little trickier than people realize. One of the main reasons for failure to make profits in Affiliate marketing is lack of dedication and work. Affiliate marketing is like any other business. It takes hard work and dedication to make a successful business.

One of the most common reasons for failure is lack of knowledge about promoting. Affiliate marketing depends on getting a lot of targeted traffic to your website. Only then can you hope to achieve a substantial click through and sales conversion. Many new affiliates are not aware of the amount of work they will have to put in to drive this traffic to their websites.

The other mistake is not to have your own website. This prevents you from doing your own website promotions and does not allow you to capture the email addresses of your visitors. When you do this you will only be building your sponsor's business and not your own. You will also be decreasing your sales conversions.

Not knowing how to advertise and where you should be doing your direct marketing is also another mistake. Advertising must be towards your targeted market and not in unrelated publications and websites.

Selling, not pre selling: Too many affiliates try to sell their sponsor's products instead of getting the click through. If you try to sell to your visitors and then send them through to your sponsor's sales page they are in effect being double sold and will not be very inclined to buy.

If you pre sell to your visitors and warm them for the sale they will be ready for your sponsor's sales page and be inclined to buy. This will increase sales conversions and your commission.

NOW is the time!

O.K. you have read the article. Now is the time for action. Without action, this article adds no value whatsoever to your online success. But remember, without action, you cannot blame this affiliate marketing article or any article for that matter. So, take action NOW.

Even if only one piece of advice, one piece of information, one tip makes a difference, then the whole article has been worth it for all of us.

Affiliate Marketing At Its Best

Most people, when they begin a work at home business, first consider affiliate marketing as a method for generating an income. This is of course is one of the best places to start. There are a lot of perks that come with affiliate marketing. However, there is also a big misconception that it is the easiest thing a work at home beginner will ever do. It isn't, not unless you consider these tips.

You need a served market. Not all markets are goldmines. There are a lot of underserved markets out there and they're that way for a reason- there is no money in them. In order to be profitable you need to locate potential niche markets and market affiliate products to them. You also have to determine the profit potential of that market before you get in. One way to determine if there is profit potential is to examine if an affiliate product already exists in the niche you are targeting. You can do this by searching at ClickBank marketplace. Look over existing products and see if there is a profitable affiliate program in place.

You need a list. Many affiliates assume that because they are promoting someone else's product, rather than their own, they don't need to connect with people. Nothing could be further from the truth. You need a list, because the money is in the list. But creating a list is only half the work you should have a relationship with your subscribers. The real profits are in the relationship you have with your list. Its a myth that your list has to be massive in order to be a super affiliate (although it is helpful), its how responsive your list is that makes the real difference.

You need to create a direct response. One of the most effective methods to creating affiliate commissions is to set up a simple direct response website to market your chosen affiliate program. This is called an affiliate leads response page. You want to have just one page for this site so that your visitor does not get distracted with anything else.

It should contain an opt-in page and a redirect to the affiliate sales page. This setup will allow you to capture leads and to make profits from your website over and over.

Follow up with your leads. You will need an auto responder to feed your customers high quality content that they cant wait to devour. Your content should educate and build a relationship with your prospective customers. You can create a 7 day mini e-course or a monthly newsletter. Map out a schedule for your content.

Actively promote your lead capture page. You need send to traffic to your website, without it you have no business. Don't promote for a week or two and expect to generate a massive response. Many affiliates don't promote as hard as they should. You want to get to as many targeted visitors as possible to your leads capture page. This means getting in front of as many people as possible as often as possible. You can do this with Google adwords, articles, and getting active in forums. The more your out there the better.

Affiliate marketing is a great place to start for a work at home beginner but don't get caught up in the appeal of promoting other peoples products for a commission. Affiliate marketing like any other marketing method is work. Done correctly, however, it can produce a passive income for any looking to work from home.

Affiliate Marketing At Its Best

Most people, when they begin a work at home business, first consider affiliate marketing as a method for generating an income.

Affiliates, How Responsive Is Your Email Marketing?

Email marketing is a powerful way to promote products. It does not matter whether it is your sponsor's products and services or your own. You will still find this form of marketing very effective.

Your email marketing will begin with your opt-in list. This can easily be built by offering a free newsletter about your industry to your website visitors. You place a subscription box on your website that will capture names and email addresses of your subscribers.

You can also be extra careful and make this a double opt-in, meaning that the subscriber must confirm their subscription before they join your list.

With the plethora of free giveaway sites, we are faced with a two edge sword - the advantage is that if you have a product or service to add to the giveaway, this is another great way to add subscribers - the disadvantage is that you can also attract the freebie hunters who will either enter a spurious email address or will never have any intention of buying from you.

This is why savvie marketers will always use a double opt-in.

Once you have built a good sized list you can place small ads for your product in your newsletter and can even start an announcement list for those who are looking for new products, tools and opportunities.

Email marketing can take several forms.

1. There is of course your free newsletter, which will have a couple of ads, as mentioned above.

2. Then there is information please mailer, which can help you close many sales. You have a link on your website, or in your publication, for readers to click on, if they need more information. The mailer will be a sequence of emails that give more information about the product and a call to action at the end. These are very effective in closing sales and getting the click through to your sponsor's site.

3. You can also send special announcements to your entire list about new products and services that you think will meet their needs.

There are 2 tools you need:

1. An autoresponder 2. Email signature file

Can Spam Act: It is very important to comply with the Can Spam Act when sending email. Always give your name, company name and physical address at the bottom of your email. It is very important to provide an opt-out or unsubscribe link at the end of your email.

Spam filters: Always Spam check your email messages before you send them out.

Much of email marketing can be put on auto pilot and prescheduled with your autoresponder. It is a very cost effective and highly effective form of marketing.

========SIDEBAR========
======END SIDEBAR======

In summary, a way to improve your profits

Email marketing is still a powerful form of promotion. However, we all know that few purchase on the first point of contact and that's why autoresponders are so good and save a lot of time and effort. A short series of email messages can be set up easily and scheduled to be sent over a period of time.

* Your actual messages should be in HTML and text, as there are many email clients who still do not accept HTML.

* Use an autoresponder to mail out your messages to save your time.

* Spam check your mail before you send it out so that you can get by the Spam filters and ISP blocks. Good autoresponders will sometimes provide you with a Spam checker.

* Always include your email signature file in every email you send out.

* Be compliant with the Can Spam Laws and include your physical address and name in every email. Also do not forget to provide an unsubscribe link when advertising to your lists.

* You can use short articles and information about a product to send to potential customers and clients to help you presell the benefits and then close the sale.

Your email signature file: You should not make it more than 5 lines. It should include; your name, your company name, a free offer like your free newsletter, and of course your URL.

With these points in mind you will be able to make a successful and effective email campaign, which will help you to close more deals and make more sales.

NOW is the time!

O.K. you have read the article. Now is the time for action. Without action, this article adds no value whatsoever to your online success. But remember, without action, you cannot blame this online marketing article or any article for that matter. So, take action NOW.

Even if only one piece of advice, one piece of information, one tip makes a difference, then the whole article has been worth it for all of us.

Why Would You Want To Be An Affiliate?

The following article is one of a series of articles which focus on Affiliate, Article and Internet Marketing. All of the articles are based on real experiences and research done over twenty years as a personal and business coach. They are also written in response to questions which I have been asked as well as address common challenges that people have with affiliate marketing, article marketing, internet marketing or running an online business in general. I sincerely hope that you find the following information of value. One idea, one tip, one clue can make all the difference.

Why Would You Want To Be An Affiliate?

Affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to start your business. You can either use it as a stepping-stone to build up income to start your business, or you can supplement your income from an established enterprise. You can even expand your affiliate marketing in such a way that you can earn a full time income from it.

Affiliate marketing has other advantages. It can be a good learning tool. Good affiliate programs will not leave their affiliates high and dry; they will provide good tools and advice to get them started. As a new entrepreneur you will be able to learn the basics of marketing for free. Plus get a good idea of how to write good sales copy from their promotional material.

This will help you get a good start for any business you need to engage in.

One of the cardinal rules of Affiliate marketing is to stick with one program and not flit like a butterfly from one program to another before you have had time to test and learn about it carefully. Work a program for at least one month before you quit. By that time you may even be making money from the program. After one month add another program, test it and then move on to the next program.

In this way you will gain experience and build up your income. Choose your programs wisely, so that you can get maximum benefits from them. Learning and earning is what you are looking for.

These are just a few reasons to join affiliate programs. These programs are only as good as the work you put into them. You can either just earn a little money with minimum investment of time and money or you can earn a comfortable living by doing whatever it takes to succeed. It is all up to you. You can start today.

========SIDEBAR========
======END SIDEBAR======

Benefits of Affiliate Marketing

The benefits of affiliate marketing are many. It is a low risk business with high potential. You will be investing minimal money and getting maximum profits. Most affiliate programs are free to join. Your costs will be to set up your own website, plus to promote your sponsor's products and your website.

No inventory: the great thing about an affiliate program is that there is not inventory to tie up your money and space. You do not have to be constantly worried about unsold inventory or returns. Your Sponsor will take care of all shipping and customer support. Al you have to do is promote to your targeted market and cash in the commission checks.

The freedom to work when you want and as hard as you want: One of the great things about owning your own affiliate business is that you can work at your own pace. There is no babysitting from bosses and management. You are the boss and do not have to ask anyone if you want to take a day off or only want to work a few hours at your business.

Your affiliate business will grow at the pace you want it to. You can promote as much or as little as you want. If you just want to keep your business as a supplementary income, you can slow the pace and just collect a small check. At its simplest, it is a partnership between a merchant and a salesperson where the merchant rewards the salesperson, or affiliate, based on some measure of performance – usually a sale, but in some cases for leads or website traffic.

The first mainstream affiliate marketing system on the internet was launched by Amazon.com, offering Amazon "associates" the opportunity to receive a commission for each book they sold for the company. Since then, many thousands of companies have created their own affiliate programs, encouraging online publishers and salespeople to earn commissions through their partnerships.

There are many publishing and sales professionals who are successful affiliate marketers, but they are certainly not the only people participating in the industry. There are also many "amateur" affiliates – people who build a website, or create an online newsletter, or in some cases simply email their friends and recommend a product or service. In many instances, it's no different to recommending a particular brand or store – except that if somebody follows the affiliate's advice, they're rewarded for it.

Affiliate marketing may involve a number of different strategies and techniques, from building entire online storefronts offering the affiliate merchant's products, adding some form of advertisement to an existing website, to something as simple as making recommendations in an email and including a special affiliate link that ensures that the merchant credits them for the sale.

The growth of affiliate marketing is constantly increasing, as new merchants discover the value of increasing the size of their sales force by creating partnerships with online publishers. This is especially true of merchants whose products or services may appeal to a particular niche market. How better to become established within that niche than by working with companies and individuals who already know the market because they're part of it?

Making Money With Affiliate Programs - Just The Facts

Most of us dream about the kind of life where we make our own hours and have time for the important things in life, don’t we? How about earning an income that we can really be proud of based on our performance? Let’s face it, for most of us, work is something that takes away from our days, not add to them.

Perhaps that’s why so many people are turning towards affiliate marketing for extra income. Affiliate marketing was responsible for billions of dollars worth of revenue over the past year, and much of that centered on the all-important holiday shopping season. When you are ready make money with affiliate programs and become a successful affiliate marketer there are a few things you need to keep in mind.

It All Begins With a Decision

Beginning any new thing is hard.

That’s the honest truth. Affiliate marketing is no exception. When you begin your career as a successful affiliate marketer, there are going to be times when you are tired and feel like giving up. It’s hard to begin a career so centered on you. You’re going to have to get used to making your own decisions, being responsible for your own performance, and ultimately balancing your work with the life that you want to lead.

On the other times, there will be easier times, when you are making some money and are completely thrilled with the work you are doing. It’s important that you keep those successful moments in mind when you are getting discouraged or are having trouble meeting your deadlines. Like anything in this world, you make your own destiny, and your destiny as an affiliate marketing advertiser relies on your ability to stick with it, through the good and the bad. Believe that you will succeed through your hard work and effort, and you will make it so.
Learn How, From Someone Who Does It!

One of the first things you are going to want to do when you make the decision to become an affiliate marketer and make money with affiliate programs is to get the training you need from someone who has proven they’ve been there. Affiliate marketing is just like any other career that you might be considering.

Take the time to learn up front, and it will pay off in dimes when you are able to hit the ground running. Affiliate marketing pro James Martell offers a training program that can be easily taken at home in your spare time – exactly what you need to make that transition from being a member of the work force to carving out your own path to success!

Invest in Your Business

Now that you’ve made the decision to be a success and are sticking to your guns through thick and thin, it’s time to get serious about making money with affiliate programs. It’s time to re-invest in your company.

Investing time in your company is easy. You simply sit down and get to work. What many people don’t realize, however, is that you also need to invest capital in your affiliate business to make it a success.

Ever hear of the phrase “It takes money to make money”? Well, that phrase has never been truer with affiliate marketing. You’ve already invested some money and received a training course, hopefully from someone with a proven track record in the industry. You’re writing tons of short, snappy articles designed to promote products for your websites and highlight your affiliate connections.

Now, how much time do you think you could save by investing in a good web writer? Professional writers are more and more looking at the world of affiliate marketing as a place to ply their trade and earn money. Finally, someone who knows how to write the articles you need better than you can (they are professionals, remember?) and are willing to write the dozens of content articles you may need for a single website.

Be warned, though, that you get what you pay for with writers. Top writers words come at a premium, but they will definitely worth it. Saving money in the short term by buying cheap articles may end up costing you a lot of money in the future when the sales start to drop.

You can be successful at affiliate marketing. There are some things you need to do to increase your chances though, important steps to ensure your chance at success. Making money with affiliate programs in a world where the internet is getting bigger every day, and nearly every company in the world can benefit from the increased sales affiliate marketing can bring. All it takes is patience, education, and of course, a little capital.

Affiliate Marketing Courses - Learn and Earn As You Go

There are a lot of reasons why a career in affiliate marketing would be the ideal way for you to get the most of your life. For some, it’s the increased freedom that comes with being your own boss. For others, it’s the time they can spend at home with their families and loved ones, far away from the boring, dreary 9-5 existence they’ve grown to hate. And of course, there’s always the money to think about. Affiliate marketing has seen exponential growth in the last few years, making it one of the fastest growing industries on the market today.

But like any industry or new career, you really need to know the ropes before you decide to jump into the ring. That’s why affiliate marketing training courses are so important to the success of your new affiliate marketing career.

School is In! Are You?

To really get your hands dirty and learn exactly how affiliate marketing can help you achieve your career goals, you need to go back to school. You need to learn about important topics such as internet marketing and internet search engine basics. You’ll also need to get a handle on how affiliate programs themselves work, where to look for the best and brightest companies to work with, and even how to attract thousands of monthly visitors to your affiliate sites.

Just how long will all of this take? Probably about 6-12 months. It may sound like a lot of time, but you have to ask yourself – how long did you expect to go to school for? Standard training courses at your local college can run anywhere from 6 months to 4 years, and some go even longer than that! And when you are done in those courses, learning everything you needed to start your new career, you head out into the working world to a boss who may not respect you and a bank account that definitely won’t appreciate you.

Earn While you Learn!

With affiliate marketing course and affiliate marketing training, such as James Martell’s proven strategies in his training program, you’ll be able to learn all you need to know in a short amount of time and in the comfort of your home. And you’ll also earn while you learn, since Martell’s system is designed for you to do practical, hands-on training while you are learning about the process.

That means that while you are learning about how to generate visitors to your websites, you’ll be optimizing the sites you already own to work better. And while you are learning about how content can drive up sales on your site, you’ll be using your own creative talents to spin articles that you can be proud of and will keep the sales coming in.

There are a couple reasons for this: First of all, it will show you immediately what’s possible if you continue with your studies and learn how to become a proper affiliate marketing expert. Second, most of us could use a little extra cash, right? Earning an additional income while you are learning your new career will help keep you focused and motivate you while you are going through the lessons.

Finally, in traditional school programs, student are exposed to a practicum, or practical work-based exercise in the field of their choosing. Often these stints working in the field are done under the tutelage of a prospective hiring company and for little or no compensation. It is assumed that the student’s increased understanding of the industry is as good as a wage.

In a home-based environment like the one in James Martell’s training course, they’ve taken that practical experience a step further by immersing the student in the same work environment they’ll be joining when they are done learning. That would be like learning how to become a world class chef in your own restaurant!

Be Your Own Boss! Choose your Own Wage!

It sounds too good to be true, but there are millions of people out there right now who are happy being their own boss and making a comfortable living at the same time. Affiliate marketing is one way that you can join their ranks. It’s an exciting, creative, cutting edge career that has been steadily growing since the inception of the internet, and as the internet grows, so does the affiliate marketing industry.

It may sound too easy, or it might sound like there is a trick to the process, but the only trick you need to worry about is getting a leg up on the competition by jumping on board a home-based affiliate marketing course.

Affiliate marketing training isn’t something that should be taken lightly. It is a serious, important first step in becoming a successful affiliate marketing expert. And if you are looking to start your career as a successful affiliate marketer, it’s the only step you should be considering before you begin.

Choosing the Right Affiliate Program

Choosing the right affiliate program is vital for your success. We don’t want to end up with lemons, right? It is not advisable to invest time and effort into something that will not yield the best return for the energy expended.

In this lesson, we’re going to learn how to distinguish an excellent affiliate program from a rather mediocre one. Yes, indeed. Not all affiliate programs are created equal. Some are simply better than others. Here are some things you need to think about if you are considering entering the affiliate marketing arena:

* How much is the commission rate being offered by the affiliate program? Ideally, you would want a high commission rate. Who wouldn’t, right? But don’t let this mislead you into thinking that a high commission rate is equal to a good home based business opportunity. An affiliate program that offers 80% commission per successful sale, for example, may also ask you to pre-sell products that aren’t really sellable. What good is an 80% commission then when you won’t have any sales to speak of? So this leads us to our next consideration…

* How sellable is the product? You could always ask for statistics from the affiliate program. Don’t forget that. You could demand to see the sales chart for the past few months, so that you’d know that there are people who are actually willing to purchase the product. We can safely say that an affiliate programs offering high commission rates for very sellable products is an excellent opportunity.

* How credible is the affiliate program? There are many things that should be factored into this consideration. Determine how long the program has been operating. If they have been in existence for a long time with nary a complaint that can be seen, then they must be doing something right! Do a search on Google or online forums to check out other affiliates opinions of your prospective business partner.

* How will you get paid? This may be a little too prospective a thought, but you have to ensure the utmost viability of any money making opportunity. What payment method can you accommodate? Will the affiliate program be able to oblige to such method? If the affiliate program pays its affiliates through PayPal exclusively, for example, and you’re living in a non-PayPal territory, then you might encounter some problems. Ask the affiliate merchant if he could make some considerations for your case. More often than not, he will try to accommodate your request. If he can’t, then your time would be better spent with an affiliate program whose payment you would actually receive.

If the above considerations are all favorable for you, then grab the said opportunity as quickly as you can. Start earning money right away, for time is gold in this business!

In the next article, we’re going to discuss the proper steps you should take in starting out with this type of home based business opportunity.
